Letter to Congregation 06-24-2020
June 24, 2020
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
I write to you today having just finished a phone call sharing with a Synod staff all the wonderful things this church has done in these past months to address the needs of our community. I love to share how ESPC has been wonderful at following our calling by living into the mission to be the hands and voice of God in our community. The wonderful Christian song 10,000 Reasons by Matt Redman reminds me I have many reasons to praise the Lord. I praise the Lord for all the work God has done and continues to do through you. Prior to pandemic, a good chunk of ministry to the community occurred inside our building. This pandemic has opened up new ways of reaching our community while also still being available to continue the ministries that were bringing over 1000 people through our doors weekly. I can’t wait to have the opportunity to praise God for all the new ways we will continue to live into our mission and bring Christ’s love to those around us.
I also feel blessed that we have a building that makes in person worship possible! (albeit in a new and different way) Because of past faithful members and great leaders, both past and present, we will be continuing with our phase 1 in person worship this Sunday. A letter was sent with guidelines as to what that entails, and I would encourage you to review those guidelines. Our continued goal is to have as many people as possible feel welcome to worship with us which is why we are offering worship in many different ways including the occasional outdoor service. For those of you who feel more comfortable being at home we will continue to live stream services. Please do not feel obligated to come to in-person worship and if you have any symptoms of illness please worship from home. I look forward to rejoicing with all of you both in the church and beyond the church walls.
