Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
I am excited to announce that we are not letting this pandemic stop us from celebrating Easter the foundational celebration of the church year. The session and staff have been thinking outside the box for a way to help those who do not have access to streaming or recordings of the recent week’s services to get the much-needed spiritual comfort and peace needed during this time. After checking with authorities, we were given the go ahead to have a special service on Easter.
This year Easter will be different than years past in more ways than can be said, but for those of you who have desired to be with us feel free to join us for our drive-in parking lot Easter service. The service will still be live streamed for those who want to or can remain at home for the service. We would encourage those coming in for the parking lot service to tune their radios into the radio station provided in the bulletin which will be distributed that morning.
For those who are live streaming or watching recordings it will be done in the same format as week’s past. We will be celebrating communion and so I would invite you to do the same as I invited us to do for Maundy Thursday service. To gather your communion elements beforehand and bring them to wherever you will be worshiping be it in your space at home or in your car in the parking lot. For those of you who may have missed it I invite you to gather the “bread” which can be a slice of ordinary bread, a roll, cracker, cookie, goldfish cracker, etc. anything will do. Don’t feel the need to go out and purchase anything, just use whatever food item you have on hand. Also, gather the “fruit of the vine” which can be juice, wine, water, or any beverage you have on hand.
Think of this as a worship service at the drive-in movie theater, of which I’m certain many of you have been to before. Whether we are gathered together or are worshiping in our homes let us celebrate the Risen Christ in these new ways!
In His Peace,
Pastor Nicki
